Home Up

Sunday, February 22nd, 2026

Although Grandma Terry, Aunt Erica, and I had just spent two days in the parks last week, Erica and I decided to go back today. Grandma Terry had bought me six plates for my new apartment, and they had matching bowls that I didn't get that I was regretting not purchasing. Aunt Erica also wanted a set of decorative bowls that she didn't purchase, so we decided to make up for our mistakes by going today to find them.

We ended up going to Disney's Animal Kingdom, in part because we didn't really spend any time there during the week, and in part because I wanted to go on the Kilimanjaro Safaris ride. We rode early in hopes of seeing the animals more active than they may have been in the midday heat, but there were plenty that weren't out at all today. The ones we did see were up and moving around for the most part, though, so that was fun.

After the safari, we decided to walk along the Gorilla Falls Conservation Trail. Unfortunately for us, what started out as a slightly misty rain turned into a pretty good downpour, and we ended getting drenched as there was little opportunity for us to get out of the weather. We had our ponchos, so that was helpful, but our feet were beyond wet. At this point we decided to give up on the park, as we were both uncomfortable in our wet shoes, and head to Disney Springs to seek out the dishes we were after...

On the Kilimanjaro Safaris, the first animal we saw was an okapi...

After getting drenched at Animal Kingdom we headed over to Disney Springs so that Aunt Erica and I could each pick up the bowls that we wanted. We headed to the Marketplace Co-Op, as I knew that they had a pretty wide homegoods section from a previous visit, and thankfully they had everything we wanted!

After having success with the bowls, we headed over to Gideon's Bakehouse to get the cookie that I was after during the week (and found out it was a weekend only special). It was a bit of a wait today, but we had success! I was able to get the special cookie I was after, and Erica got some for herself as well.

Our final stop at Disney Springs was for lunch, and we settled on Chicken Guy! Erica and I both ended up getting a three-piece meal. I like their chicken tenders, and the fries were better than I remembered too. After eating, we opted to head home, as we were both anxious to get out of our wet socks!

At home, hours after getting caught in the rain, my socks were still wet and my feet were wrinkly! So gross!
