Our Easter activities got off to a rough start on Saturday when we were forced to dye eggs by candlelight, thanks to a power outage. Tyler feared that having no power would cause this to be "the worst Easter eve ever!" but successfully getting the eggs done and being able to watch a movie on the laptop ("Where the Wild Things Are" - may actually be the worst kids movie ever) turned his attitude around, and somehow it became "the best Easter eve ever!" (his words, not mine). Unfortunately the power outage made for a late night for all of us, as it took a bit longer than usual to get things done than it normally would have. That didn't stop the kids from getting up early on Easter morning, though. I was awakened by Jayden yell of excitement over the fact that she finally had her own scooter (the other three have had their own for quite some time). The rest of the kids had already discovered their goodies as well, except for Tyler - he didn't find his until I sent him outside to get the newspaper. Everyone seemed pretty happy with what they got, so it all works out great in the end! In the afternoon we headed off to Grandpa Jerry & Grandma Gail's house for dinner and an Easter egg hunt. This year the older kids got to hide the eggs for Drew, Jayden, and Lilly. After they had their turn hunting, the adults hid the eggs for Adam, Tyler, Samantha, and Veronica. Then they all sat down and ate everything that they found. I think that the kids definitely cleaned the house out of any candy during this visit!
